(14/01/1988) SX 5390 7912: A settlement comprising four hut circles, two are inside an incomplete rectilinear enclosure attached to a contour reave, situated on a moderate slope on Cudlipptown Down. The features occupy an area of medium clitter cover.
'A' SX 5394 7911. Hut circle of 2.8 to 3.2m internal diameter with walling of medium and large-size rubble 1.2m wide and up to 0.5m high. The circuit has been damaged on the W resulting in wall material being pushed to the interior. No entrance is visible.
'B' SX 5391 7910. Hut circle of 3.2m internal diameter with rubble walling of medium and large-size stones 1.6m wide and 0.4m high. There is a trace of laid facing stones on the E. The interior is levelled into the slope by cutting in to 0.4m and embanking to 0.6m. There is no entrance visible.
'C' SX 5390 7910. Hut circle of 1.5m to 1.8m internal diameter with fragmentary walling formed by large, earthfast boulders c1.6m wide and up to 0.3m high. No entrance is visible.
'D' SX 5389 7911. Hut circle of 2.6m to 3.5m internal diameter with rubble walling of medium and large-size stones 1.3m wide and 0.4m high. There is a possible entrance at the NE giving access to a slightly dished interior.
The huts are partly enclosed by walling on three sides. The N side is formed by a reave (SX 57 NW 85 D); here a stony scarp 2.5m wide and 0.6m high. A fragmentary line of medium and large size boulders, some set upright edge to edge leaves the reave at SX 5387 7915; at a point of pronounced change in alignment. It runs S for 50m before turning to run E for 34m and fading after a small inward step. The wall is 1.5m to 2m wide and generally 0.4m high. Two huts; 'C' and 'D' are effectively enclosed. There is no trace, however, of walling enclosing huts 'A' and 'B' and returning to the reave. These features constitute a small enclosed settlement of rectilinear plan attached to the contour reave but now partly robbed.
