Summary

Hut 'D' of 6 metres diameter with walls 2.5 metres wide by 0.6 metres high in the settlement to the north-east of Wedlake Farm and to the west of the Colly Brook. The hut has two enormous jamb stones marking the entrance. A short wall attaches this hut to Hut 'K'

Full description

Worth, R. H., 1905, 10th Report of the Dartmoor Exploration Committee, 141-5 (Article in Serial). SDV248367.

Hut 'D'. Good condition. A wall runs from 'D'-'K'. Iron oxide deposit.

Visited on 19th November 1987. Hut 'D'. A squarish-shaped hut measuring 5.8 metres by 4.8 metres internally and slightly levelled into the slope. Its wall constructed of smallish boulders and stones is on average 2.5 metres wide and 0.6 metres high. Two large boulders each 1.2 metres wide and 1.3 metres high have been incorporated into the wall and a large orthostat measuring 0.7 metres by 0.6 metres and 1.4 metres in height, which stands in the south side, may have been one of the door posts of the entrance. The hut is linked to the linear boulder/stone enclosure wall.

Hut circle '2' attached to the north-west side of Enclosure 'C' at the 'Wedlake settlement' is an impressive oval shaped feature of 5.7 metres by 4.8 metres with two enormous jamb stones at the entrance, one of them fallen.

This monument includes an enclosed stone hut circle settlement situated on a gentle south-facing slope of White Tor overlooking the valley of the Colly Brook. Thirteen stone hut circles are associated with three separate enclosures.
