Control bunker/shelter for Roborough Down bombing decoy recorded on original plans.

Hayes, M., 2014, RAF Harrowbeer Yelverton (Website). SDV356736.

The decoy site was operated from a shelter in a “safe” position on the edge of the site by a crew of two. The shelter housed an electrical generator for the lights and a switch room with a telephone link to the parent site. The shelter may have been underground or earth covered for camouflage.

Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2019-2020, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 2, Avon Valley to Plymouth (AI&M, formerly NMP) (Interpretation). SDV362982.

The decoy shelter is visible as a rectangular embanked feature, circa 17m long by 10m wide, on aerial photographs taken in 1946. The earthworks are not clearly visible after this date, suggesting that they have been largely or completely levelled. Structures and earthworks of this shelter may still, however, survive.
