Full description

Smart, I. H., 1995, The Newcomen Road, 16-17, 31 (Pamphlet). SDV341366.

The Widows Almshouses, owned by the Charity Commissioners, were along the Narrow Steps between Lower Street and Higher Streets. The buildings were demolished when Newcomen Road was built in the 1860s. Nos 43-45 on map showing buildings to be demolished along the proposed route of the Newcomen Road.
