A roughly circular pit circa 8m in diameter is visible as an earthwork on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, under woodland to the north of Rattycoombe Farm, Chudleigh. The pit is surrounded by low mounds on three sides, possibly spoil, with access to the pit visible as a break in the mounds on the south-west facing side. The earthworks are interpreted as a former quarry or extractive pit of probable post-medieval to 19th century date. The visible earthworks do not correspond with any pit depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map, and it had therefore probably passed out of use by the 1880s.
