Summary

A second building (possible dwelling) with a fireplace lies on the western edge of the settlement, just below the Devonport Leat. The interior measures 7.8m by 4.6m and is defined by a drystone wall standing up to 1.4m high. The fireplace is built into the west wall and survives as a 0.9m wide and 0.56m deep recess denoted on the north side by a substantial 0.8m high orthostat.

A second building with a fireplace lies on the western edge of the settlement, just below the Devonport Leat. The interior measures 7.8m by 4.6m and is defined by a drystone wall standing up to 1.4m high. The fireplace is built into the west wall and survives as a 0.9m wide and 0.56m deep recess denoted on the north side by a substantial 0.8m high orthostat.
A clearly defined join between two different parts of the south-facing wall may indicate the position of an earlier blocked doorway, although the existing doorway cuts through the middle length of the same wall. There is no evidence of a staircase and it may have been single storied. However, the possibility of a second floor cannot be discounted since a substantial bank abutting its east side could have formed the base for an external staircase. The presence of a fireplace suggests that this may have been a dwelling, though it may also have been a barn or workshop at some item. It may have been a farm workers cottage. Probably inhabited at the same time as the farmhouse.
