Possibility that this was the camp of the United States 227 Field Artillery Battalion of the 29th Infantry Division. This was stationed at Okehampton 1943-44.

Military camp of mostly Nissen type huts recorded on Royal Air Force 1947 aerial photograph coverage. Sited on Oaklands showground. Some of the buildings recorded on the Oprdnance Survey 6 inch (1964) and 25 inch (1967) maps appear to be in the same locations as those on the aerial photograph.
