Unknown, 1944, Roads and Training Aids: U.S. Assault Training Center (Un-published). SDV339604.

Training aids 16-18 recorded on U.S. Army plans.


Nature Conservancy Council, 1989, Braunton Burrows Habitat Map (Cartographic). SDV339613.

A 'ruin' is marked on the Braunton Burrows Habitat Map.

These three aids form a triangle around the west side of Five Ponds Ridge, between Five Ponds Slack and the Northern Boundary Track.

The ruin on the Braunton Burrows Habitat Map is likely to be Training Aid 17 from the U.S. Army plan.

Visited 2009. Nothing visible at NGR given. Area is flat with some small dunes/mounds some of which may represent military features. At NGR 245580 135763 is Training Aid 17 as photographed by R. Bass. This consists of ruined reinforced concrete structure with flat shuttering. Parts of north and east sides visible in situ, with splayed join. South side has collapsed and feature is filled with rubble. With the exception of the north side the feature is surrounded by a mound covered with dense vegetation.
Good condition, but partially overgrown.
