Full description
National Monuments Record, SS22NW29 (National Monuments Record Database). SDV341725.
The British merchant smack, Bessie capsized 3 miless off Hartland Point in 1856. A wooden vessel, built in 1846 and registered at Padstow. Had a crew of 4. En route from Padstow to Newport in coal. Wind conditions NxE force 7, squally at 2.00pm. The vessel carried too much sail, and capsized and sank.
