Summary

Enclosed hut and seven detached hut circles. All the huts are very ruinous and overgrown, their average internal diameter is 6.6m, the largest being 8.2m and the smallest 4.0m. The walls average 1.4m thick. Two of them have entrances on the south. The enclosure measures 36.5m north-south and 31.0m east-west; its wall is 1.5m thick, with some orthostats on the outer face. There is a build-up of soil against the lower inside wall, but no evidence of clearance.

(13/04/1950) One hut circle is in fair condition, with diameter of 7.0 metres.
(04/08/1977) Situated above Newland's Brakes on the south west slopes of Corringdon Ball is an enclosed hut and seven detached hut circles.
All the huts are very ruinous and overgrown, and are probably of Type 2 except a small hut adjacent to the enclosure which is probably Type 1. Their average internal diameter is 6.6m, the largest being 8.2m and the smallest 4.0m. The walls average 1.4m thick. Two of them have entrances on the south. The enclosure measures 36.5m north-south and 31.0m east-west; its wall is 1.5m thick, with some orthostats on the outer face. There is a build-up of soil against the lower inside wall, but no evidence of clearance. (Type sites: 1, SX 56 SE 19 and 2, SX 56 NE 71).

Site visited in April 1978. This pound with hut circles lies on Corringdon Ball immediately west of Corringdon Leat, on west sloping rocky ground which is overgrown with bracken in summer. There are two hut circles within the pound and one adjoining it on the south-east.

Enclosure 'B' at Corringdon Ball Enclosures' has only two hut circles in the circuit. Hut Circle '1' of 5.5 metres diameter on the northern perimeter and Hut Circle '2' of 4.5 metres diameter within the southern circuit wall. Hut Circle '3' of 5.2 metres diameter and its annex were connected by a line of slabs.

This enclosure with hut circles lies on the south-western slope of Corringdon Ball, some 10 metres west of Corringdon Leat. It is built into the hillslope and there has been a considerable build up of soil on the uphill side of the enclosure bank. The enclosure measures 37 metres by 30 metres and has banks of boulders up to 4 metres in width and 1 metre in height. There are two hut circles within the enclosure. One, close to the north-west bank, measures 8 metres in diameter and has walls 1.5 metres in thickness and 0.75 metres in height and an entrance to the south. The other is attached inside the southern bank; it measures 4 metres in diameter and has walls 0.5 metres in thickness and 0.4 metres in height. A third hut circle is attached to the outside of the bank near the enclosure entrance at the south; it measures 5 metres in diameter and has walls 0.5 metres in thickness and 0.5 metres in height. There are traces of at least one further hut inside the enclosure.
