Rear of kiln is constructed as a bank, same as sides, rather than being built into a hillside. The only stonework in the kiln consists of a short length of walling to either side of the nw opening: w section survives to 1.65m long x 1.8m high, n section 1.6m long x 0.9m high; both c.0.9m thick. The inner wall endings appear to be finished, making the original kiln opening 2.1m wide. There are piles of limestone in the wood & small areas of shallow workings. Against the hedgebank immediately e of the copse there is a small visible outcrop of stone which has been partly quarried away (ea).
