Summary

Breakwater east of Yell Pool, marked on late nineteenth century mapping. The structure is extant in aerial photographs taken in 1952 but coastal erosion has since had a significant effect and the only visible evidence from aerial photographs taken in 2007 are two partial rows of posts.

A 'breakwater' is marked on the Second Edition Ordnance Survey 6 inch map.

The breakwater is visible as a structure.

A darker patch in this area visible on recent aerial photographs suggests there may be some degraded remains.
Visited 2009. Nothing visible in this area. The HER NGR appears to be further west on the ground than its position on historic mapping.

The breakwater is visible on aerial photographs until 1952 as a solid structure, but by 1989 it appears to survive as only two parallel walls or revetments, and by 2007 only a few posts are visible, as wave action has eroded the shoreline.
