Summary

An enclosed homestead on the south-west of Black Tor. The enclosure measures 51.0m north-west-south-east x 36.0m transversely; the walling averages 2.2m thick and 0.7m in height, is double faced and reasonably well preserved. There is a well defined entrance on the south side. The interior of the enclosure has not been cleared of stones. The hut is very well preserved with an internal diameter of 6.0m; the walls are 1.5m thick and uniformly 0.6m in height. It has an entrance on the south.

(14/04/1950) Enclosure (length 52m, width 32m), hut circle diameter 6.4m. Second of 3 hut enclosures at Black Tor, Shipley Bridge. North-west of the first. Single hut; entrance uncertain.
(18/07/1977) An enclosed homestead situated south-west of Black Tor at approximately 325m OD. The enclosure measures 51.0m north-west-south-east x 36.0m transversely; the walling averages 2.2m thick and 0.7m in height, is double faced and reasonably well preserved.
There is a well defined entrance on the south side. The interior of the enclosure has not been cleared of stones. The hut is very well preserved with an internal diameter of 6.0m; the walls are 1.5m thick and uniformly 0.6m in height. It is of Type 2 with an entrance on the south. (Type site: SX 56 NE 71).
Surveyed at 1:10 000 on PFD.

Pound with the wall built of large granite boulders, about 0.5 metres high and 3 metres wide. Hut circle in the upper half of the pound, with well preserved walls, definite hut platform 7 metres in diameter and a possible entrance to the south.

Enclosure with a central very clear hut circle on 1976 aerial photograph with another possible hut circle and a possible hut circle attached to the external eastern wall.

One of at least seven hut circle enclosures on Black Tor. This Enclosure 'E' has many of the facing slabs infilled with loosely packed stones in place giving the original width of 1.5 metres. A well preserved central Hut Circle '2' has a diameter of 6.0 metres with hick walls and an entrance to the south-east. It perhaps replaced an adjoining building of 4.3 metres now represented only by foundations. The disorganised wall of the third hut takes up the corner and immediately above the enclosure is a small pillow mound.

One of three enclosed hut groups at Black Tor. The northern enclosure contains three stone hut circles the largest is centrally positioned and measures 6 metres in diameter internally. The others lie to the west, one is attached to the enclosure wall.
