The spoil-heap occupies a single plot, is broadly rectilinear in extent and measures approximately 125m in length by 115m in width. It appears to be first depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s and is also depicted on the 2016 Ordnance Survey MasterMap, suggesting the earthworks are extant. The spoil heap is likely associated with Tinhay Quarry to the immediate north.

The possible spoil heap is depicted here on the 2016 Ordnance Survey MasterMap.

Elongated mounds, interpreted as 19th century spoil heaps associated with Tinhay Quarry, are visible as earthworks on lidar data captured in 2004 and 2019. The mounds correspond with earthworks depicted on both the late 19th and early 20th century First and Second Edition Ordnance Survey maps and also continue beyond the area for this project. They have not, therefore, been transcribed during this survey.
