Full description

Butler, D., 13/02/1998, 3/5 Fore Street (Worksheet). SDV49977.

Trenching for extension to rear of 3/5 Fore Street exposed the lower 1 metre of stone boundary wall with St George's Church, where a heap of disarticulated bone was found approx 0.25 metres beneath the church path in the north-west corner. Workman reported two jaw pieces as well as major bones. Recorder observed several large bones, possibly post 1710-31, when the church was under construction. Scant finds of late 18th-19th century pot retained by owner.
