Full description

Department for Culture, Media and Sport, 1998, Hut Circle and Small Enclosure 270 Metres North-west of The Old Lighthouse, Lundy (Schedule Document). SDV344037.

The monument includes a hut circle with a small attached enclosure on the west side of Ackland's Moor, 270 metres north-west of The Old Lighthouse and 30 metres from the cliff edge. A natural spring is located 30 metres to the north. The hut circle survives as a ring of boulders defining a circular internal area and measuring 6 metres in diameter. It is partly enclosed by the stone remains of a sub-rectangular enclosure to the south which is 17 metres by 10 metres and oriented north-south. On its east side there is a line of stones which may be the vestiges of a further annexe opening to the south. Map object based on this Source.

Site visited on 6th May 1993. Appears to be the foundation walling for a dwelling or enclosure. Consists of a circular hollow defined by a ring of boulders. Attached to it, at the southern end, is a sub-rectangular enclosure wall or yard.
