A D-shaped ditched enclosure probably of late prehistoric to Roman date was first visible on aerial photographs of 1984 as a cropmark on the higher east-facing combe slopes to the south-west of ford cross, Thorverton.
The cropmark was relatively narrow, measuring circa 1.5 metres wide. It enclosed an almost square D-shaped enclosure roughly 35 metres across, with a possible entrance nearly 5 metres wide in the centre of the curved south-facing side. Slight indications of narrower possible external and internal ditches were also visible.
This feature was previously mislocated at circa 92380270.
