Summary

A turf mound of 3.6 metres diameter by up to 0.6 metres high set amidst peat cuttings to the south-west of Kestor Rock. An amorphous hollow 0.2 metres deep lies slightly east of centre. It is not clear whether this feature represents a barrow or a peat cutters mound.

Full description

Royal Commission for the Historical Monuments of England, 1987-1993, Duchy Farms Project Survey Visit, S. A. J. Probert (Report - Survey). SDV350839.

(06/01/1992) SX 66418589. A turf mound set amidst peat cuttings 400m SSW of Castor Rock. It is 3.6m in diameter and a maximum of 0.6m high. There is no obvious stone in the mound though a single small boulder is visible on the W margin. An amorphous hollow 0.2m deep lies slightly E of centre.
It is not clear whether this feature represents a barrow or a peat cutters mound.

(02/04/1997) SX66418587 A flat topped mound within the Kestor coaxial field system. A flat topped mound on the alignment of an unfinished length of reave. This is probably a marking out mound.
