Full description

Dartmoor National Park Authority + Forestry Commission + Dartmoor Preservation Association, 1976, Conservation of Ancient Monuments. The Report of a Working Party (Report - non-specific). SDV248248.

Hut-circle, 5.0 metres in diameter, walls 1.1 metres wide. Not included in 1955 Spooner/Dixon report. New discovery (site number 6C in Bellever plantation, Bellever Tor settlement (with sketch map) in field report).
On a platform site, cut into a south-facing slope. Covered by peat. Probable entrance on south side. Not investigated, has been planted over.

Ten trees standing in hut and stone wall, but clear of debris. Trees outside post ring are within falling distance of hut. Not visible as in woodland on 1946 aerial photograph.

Site visit 8th July 1997. Stone hut circle forming part of a prehistoric stone hut circle settlement north of Bellever Tor. Diameter 4.6 metres, double orthostat wall 1.1 metres wide, 0.6 metres high. Internal area 16.61 metres. A 155 degree facing gap may represent a door. Several tree stumps within hut. Tree on east wall. Area around has large number of relatively small trees.

Hut circle 12, diameter 5.0 metres; walls 1.3 metres wide, 0.5 metres high. Entrance to south-south-east. Well formed, with some good inner facing stones on east. Set in north-west corner of large rectangular field.
