One of a group of 'Hut Circles' shown on 19th century map.

At SX65809074. Stone hut circle forming part of a prehistoric settlement within a coaxial field system on Throwleigh Common.
Diameter 6.0 metres. Earthwork and double orthostat wall 2.0 metres wide, 0.75 metres high. Internal area measures 28.26 metres. A fine ring of inner slabs survive on the eastern side of the hut. Attached to wall.

Western of three hut circles at Site '7'. They measure 6.1, 6.3 and 8.5 metres in diameter respectively and the largest retains its jamb stones. All are solidly built.

The hut has a clear partially surviving inner wall face of granite with an internal diameter of 6.5 metres. Outside this wall there is a substantial and probably much spread stony bank measuring 5.5 metres thick by 0.8 metres high.

Site visited 4/07/2017. Plotted using GPS (SX65822 90753). Not as densely vegetated as surrounding area. Centre of hut circle was easily visible. Located close to old leat so followed this to gain access.
