Summary

A circular earthen platform of between 10 and 12 metres diameter with a back scarp of 0.9 metres high, and a very small quantity of stone is all that is visible of this hut sited just east of the modern road. The site is thickly covered by bracken.

Two of a group of 12 hut circles on Throwleigh Common. Huts J and K.

Hut circles are visible on the 1977 aerial photograph and recorded on map overlay.

At SX6601 9075. Hut circle forming part of a prehistoric settlement within a coaxial field system on Throwleigh Common. Diameter 10.4 metres. Earthwork and single orthostat wall 2.8 metres wide, 1.4 metres high. Internal area 84.9 metres. A 162 degree gap lined on the east-north-east represents the doorway. Dense bracken cover.

Site visited 4/07/2017. Plotted using GPS (SX66015 90750). Not as densely vegetated as surrounding land. Centre of hut circle easily visible. Visible from road.
