Summary

Hut or huts forming part of an enclosed hut circle settlement in Great Stannon newtake. Measures 8.8 metres diameter with a curved interior wall within settlement in Great Stannon newtake south of White Ridge. Gerrard (1997) records two joined huts here. Described as C on the 1950 Ordnance Survey card.

(23/06/1950) Hut C. Large double walled hut circle (diameter 8.5m) with remains of semi-circular court on southern perimeter. No obvious entrance.

Royal Commission for the Historical Monuments of England, 1987-1993, Duchy Farms Project Survey Visit (Report - Survey). SDV350839.

Visited on 2nd September 1990. The ruined huts, some covered by peat and others exposed by excavation, have internal diameters ranging from 3.6 metres to 8.6 metres. The walling, substantial in places comprises boulders, stone rubble and upright facing slabs; entrances where visible are in the south or south-east sides. All are linked to plots, pounds or field walls.
