An irregular earthwork pit, 50 by 35 metres, is visible on aerial photographs taken from 1982 and on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. It corresponds to a record of a marl pit (SDV122395), presumably seen on a ground visit in 1998. No features are depicted on the available historic mapping, suggesting that this was a post-medieval or early modern extraction pit that had ceased operation by the late-19th century.
