During excavation by sww, a lens of organic matter was exposed at 3.3m od, consisting of a hazel stake sharpened at one end, 0.38m long by 0.04m diam + small fragments of hazel twigs 0.1-0.3m diam and up to 0.12m long. The latter may represent wattle associated with the stake (manning + reed).
