Full description

Buckland House School. All that remains of the ice-house is a pit lying below the Buckland House lake in woods that are worked by a commercial forestry company for an absentee owner. There is a mound of iron cinder (pre-blast furnace) not far away from the pit and it is possible that the pit, used as an ice-house, was originally an ore pit. Pit diam approx 4.5-6m , depth of silt + rubble 3m.
