Full description

National Trust, 1984, Knightshayes Court, Devon, 6 (Report - Survey). SDV341846.

The land-use map (Appendix 4) shows the area as it was farmed in 1840. Pasture close to the house became, by degrees, more formal parkland.

Land Use Consultants, 1998, Knightshayes Park Survey Plan (Report - Survey). SDV341869.

Visited on 16/03/1998. Low break of slope, no more than 0.3 metres high, approximately 140 metres long, with a higher bank at east end on which is growing a mature oak tree. Probably remains of negative lynchet relating to the parkland enclosure of the area. Terminates at west end against a lynchet (site 10), and at east end possibly against edge of trackway (site 8 ). Also possibly associated with another lynchet (site 11). Other details: Appendix 5: site 9.

English Heritage, 2000, Knightshayes Court (Register of Parks and Gardens in England). SDV341847.

The Parks Agency, 2007, The Setting of Knightshayes Park and Garden: A Historic Landscape Assessment, 14 (Report - Assessment). SDV341853.

The Tithe Map shows the lawn or park extended by the acquisition of a number of enclosures, and the removal of their hedges. Two small enclosures, one arable and one orchard, south of the lane to Zeal are noted as "added to the Lawn"
