Keene, B. + Butler, D., 1997, Untitled Source, 8-9 (Monograph). SDV35794.
A Deed of Partition in 1785 created Lower Knightshayes, which was 25 percent of the whole, and was farmed separately until at least 1827. A plan accompanying a valuation in 1839 shows the northenmost field, named Lower Broad, situated in the south-east corner of the Lawn, as shown on the Tithe Map of 1842. Other details: Plan.
Land Use Consultants, 1998, Knightshayes Park Survey Plan (Report - Survey). SDV341869.
Visited on 16/03/1998. Very slight earthworks extending north of bank (site 21) for about 1.5 hectares. This area includes the more obvious sub-rectangular depression (site 22). Area difficult to interpret without a metrical survey. The potential of the site ranges from possibly a levelled, pre-emparkment farm site, to an area of surface disturbance associated with topsoil and/or turf removal. Other details: Appendix 5: site 23.
English Heritage, 2000, Knightshayes Court (Register of Parks and Gardens in England). SDV341847.
The Parks Agency, 2007, The Setting of Knightshayes Park and Garden: A Historic Landscape Assessment, 9 (Report - Assessment). SDV341853.
During the 17th and 18th centuries Knightshayes and the neighbouring Zeal estates were let out in parcels. By 1610 there were 2 farms at each.
