Full description

National Trust, 1984, Knightshayes Court, Devon (Report - Survey). SDV341846.

Land Use Consultants, 1998, Knightshayes Park Survey Plan (Report - Survey). SDV341869.

Visited on 16/03/1998. Low break of slope, oriented east - west, generally 0.3 metres high and up to 2 metres wide. Terminates at the west end against the drive, opposite gate associated with the trackway or lane (site 12), and against an internal park boundary in the east. Remnant of previous system of enclosure predating emparkment. Other details: Appendix 5: site 24.

A possible associated earthwork ditch is visible.

Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2014-2015, East and Mid Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV356883.

An east to west aligned earthwork ditch possibly associated with this feature is visible on digital images derived from Lidar data captured between 2005 and 2012. Whilst there is no clear evidence of the earthwork bank, a possible ditch was visible which would appear to flank its southern side. Similar earthworks were recorded to the immediate south and would appear to form part of an associated field system which passed out of use by the time of the parish tithe map of approximately 1838-48.
