Summary

Hut Circle '2' (Butler) in scattered settlement on Holne Moor. Survey in 1996 recorded this feature: hut measures 4.5 metres in diameter internally with walls 1.8 metres wide by 0.2 metres high. Attached to the best preserved length of half-buried walling in the settlement.

(Visited 04/05/1999) SX 6660 7129 Hut circle forming part of a prehistoric settlement 430 metres north-west of Horn's Cross. Diameter 4.8 metres. Internal area 18.08 metres. Single orthostat and earthwork wall 1.5 metres wide, 0.6 metres high. Door faced by edge set stones on both sides. Butted by wall. Grass, bracken and rushes.

Hut Circle '2' of 4.9 metres in diameter lies adjacent to the best preserved length of half-buried walling; vestiges of similar walling start on several huts elsewhere in the settlement.

(Visited 28/02/1996) Centred SX 6659 7127. Eight hut circles, one contemporary structure and a solitary enclosure lie on the moderate west-facing slope above the right bank of the O Brook.
SX 6661 7129 Measures 4.5 metres in diameter internally with walls 1.8 metres wide by 0.2 metres high.
Note: the polygon provided for this feature on the prehistoric survey layer is in the wrong place; the grid reference appears accurate in this case.
