Full description

Butler, D., 1998, Abandoned Mine Shaft (Worksheet). SDV349487.

Site visit on 11th November 1998. Abandoned mine shaft on east facing hillside overlooking Tiverton. Brick lined to adepth of 116 feet, filled with water to within few feet of rim at surface level. Now capped. Bricks made from local clay. Said to have been built in 1756 for Shropshire miners.
