Full description

Greeves, T. A. P., 1981, Untitled Source (Plan - sketch). SDV251319.

A series of three banks, two ditched, shown at this location on sketch survey, on a northwest-southeast alignment. At right angles to a linear feature; possibly a reave. Adjacent to middle bank and attached to north-west side of possible reave is a platform, approximately 6 meters by 7 meters. Other details: Sketch survey.

Greeves, T. A. P., 2010, Bearwalls Farm: an Historical and Archaeological Survey (Report - Survey). SDV345082.

Greeves identifies a reave consisting of a spread stony bank up to 1.0 meter high and 4.0-5.0 meters wide. This feature is indicated to start at the north-east corner of the 19th century plantation enclosure at Bearwalls (land parcel labelled 1130 on the Ordnance Survey 1880s 1st Edition map) and then run for around 300 meters on a north-easterly orientation. This conflicts with the previous recording of the bank being on a northwest-southeast alignment. Other details: 55.
