Possible hone stone from ploughsoil adjacent to gateway on north side of Tithebarn Lane. Stone is a fluvial derived pebble of local character, common in gravel terrace above Clyst floodplain. Pebble came from a sandstone or breccia base rock. Has been burnt in situ in post-medieval context. Found mixed with brick and other building waste dating to 20th century. Building recorded at this location on 1970s 1:10000 Ordnance Survey map, but not on 1809 1 inch map or Greenwoods map of 1827. May be associated with adjacent cropmark enclosure.
