Wheal Katherine. Part of Eylesbarrow Mine. One of only four moorland Dartmoor tin mines of the 19th century known to have had steam engines. Appears to have continued working until 1856, several years after rest of mine ceased.

Wheal katherine was also known as Crane Lake Mine and consisted of a stamping mill, an engine wheel, various shafts, enclosures, buildings, streamwork, trial pits and leats.

Wheal Katherine sett also known as Crane Lake Mine to the north-east of Eylesbarrow Tin Mine has at least six shafts (numbers 26-32) and one adit (A4). It also has a Stamping Mill (number 7) and an Engine Wheel (number 3).
