Yellands. Ash house structure is depicted on the late 19th century historic map, near the entrance to the farm, although is shown as a rough square, rather than circular. Doesn't appear to be shown on the 1840s Tithe Map.

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1953, SX68NE50 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV273516.

Ash house at Yellands. Ash house still in good condition now used as a gravel store it once possessed an iron door. House is of massive construction with circular walling and a corbelled stone roof the outside of which is now grass grown. Doorway at the south-east, and the window with its sloping inwards lower edge over which the hot ashes were poured is on the north-east (6/5/1953).

Department of Environment, 1987, Chagford, 77 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV350463.

Ash house. Probably 19th century. Granite rubble with roughly dressed blocks round the window and doorway. Circular ash house. Its conical roof is made up corbelled slabs of granite and covered with turf. The ash window on the north-east side has never contained a window-frame. Surprisingly the window is situated away from the farmhouse. The doorway is on the south-east side. It once had an iron door.
