NMR, SY28NW24, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV106017.

Sparkling foam. British wooden brigantine foundered and scuttled of beer head, 1918. Built by pain, 1868. Registered manchester. Owner: anglo-french coasting co ltd. Master: hines. Crew: 6. Caen to swansea in ballast. Attacked by gunfire from an unidentified submarine at a range of 4 miles at 1.15pm. After the barquentine had been hit 3 times the crew abandoned the vessel, and were called alongside the submarine. The enemy then boarded the vessel, looted her and placed explosive scuttling charges which caused her to sink at 3pm. The survivors were picked up by a patrol vessel at 4.45pm. And landed at brixham. The ship's confidential papers were burnt by the master before the enemy boarded her. 02-jul-1984 examined in 50 32 04n 002 56 33w. Swept clear at 32.1m foul at 32.5m. Least depth 32.5m in a general depth of 37m, scour 1-2m. Height 5m, length about 30m. Lying 130/310 degrees. Possibly sparkling foam (nmr, sy37sw1).

Captured by ub33 and sunk.23-mar-1918 position 50 33 00n 003 00 00w, 9 miles s by e from beer head.21-jun-1960 unknown wreck located in position 50 32 03n 002 56 33w possibly borga, wire drift sweep clear at 17 fathoms foul at 18 fathoms general depth 20 fathoms least depth 113 feet, scour 3 feet seabed hard with fine sand covering lies in a nw/se and appears to be about 200 feet long.18-jan-1983 two wrecks shown in 50 32 02n 002 56 32w and 50 32 31n 002 56 44w.
