26-jul-1984 examined in 50 29 05n 002 58 53w. Swept clear at 27.9m foul at 28.1m. Least depth 33.6m in a general depth of 44m, scour 1-2m deep, height 12m, length 100m. Lying 020/200 degrees.17-sep-1986 identified by recovered bell as chateau yqem (nmr).

Chateau yqem. French cargo steamer. Dunkirk to barry in ballast. Mined 1917.22-jan-1960 wire drift sweep clear at 16 fathoms, foul at 17 fathoms, general depth 24 fathoms, least depth 111 feet, the seabed is sand over chalk, length 250 to 300 feet this makes the listed tonnage of 90 tons somewhat doubtful where as possibly 900 tons is nearer the correct tonnage position 50 29 03n 002 58 59w.18-jan-1983 wreck shown in 50 29 03n 002 59 01w.(kingfisher charts k(sw)1 and 2, 1982).
