30-jun-1984 examined in 50 35 06n 002 58 39w. Swept clear at 23m foul at 23.3m. Least depth 23.4m in a general depth of 31m, no scour, height 4.5m, length about 100m, width 42m. Very broken up with wreckage scattered over seabed and orientated 175/355 degrees. Possibly marguerite (nmr).

Marguerite. French cargo steamer. Torpedoed by submarine 1917.1918 position about 8 miles ssw of beer head, also given as 7 to 8 miles to nne of beer head. Position 50 35 04n 002 58 42w accepted26-jan-1945 sonar contact position 50 36 12n 002 58 30w26-feb-1945 good sonar contact position 50 35 30n 002 58 12w length 180 feet, height 28 feet, breadth 70 feet.14-dec-1952 wire drift sweep in position 50 35 05n 002 58 42w clear at 12 fathoms foul at 13 fathoms least depth 82 feet general depth 16 fathoms sea bed fine sand over chalk length 200 feet.23-sep-1970 salvage being carried out on the wreck in position 50 35 04n 002 58 42w.16-may-1972 this wreck is not the commander being an almost intact steam coaster 150 to 200 feet long, bridge aft still standing, masts fallen. About 20 to 30 feet seabed depth 110 to 115 feet at high water 85 feet on wreck iron propeller, possibly marguerite.18-jan-1983 wreck shown in 50 35 03n 002 58 40w.(kingfisher chart k(sw)1, 1982).
