Name: | Hut circle on eastern edge of field system at Gibby Coombe, Holne |
---|
Summary
A disturbed hut circle adjacent to a medieval boundary on the crest of the steep S facing slope overlooking the left bank of the Holy Brook. The hut is terraced into the hillside to provide a level interior 4.0m in diameter. There is no obvious entrance. This feature has been used as a stone dump during the later clearing of the surrounding area. There are no traces of a contemporary field system in the immediate area though some of the medieval boundaries may fossilise an earlier pattern.
