Summary

Hut circle; one of a group of four huts on the south-eastern edge of Horridge Common. This hut is smaller than the other three and less well preserved; due to being less substantially built. This hut shares an enclosure with MDV62337. Diameter 5.4 metres, single orthostat wall 0.9 metres wide, 0.5 metres high. A 130 degree facing gap may represent a doorway. Covered in grass and bracken.

Full description

Butler, J., 1991, Dartmoor Atlas of Antiquities: Volume One - The East, 46; figure 6.1, Map 6 (Monograph). SDV299725.

Butler’s hut circle 4 measures approximately 5.0 metres in diameter and is of much slighter construction than the others in this group. Only the tops of a circle of slabs now show above the surface in the corner of the enclosure shared with hut 2.

Stone hut circle within coaxial fields on Horridge Common. Diameter 5.4 metres, single orthostat wall 0.9 metres wide, 0.5 metres high. A 130 degree facing gap may represent a doorway. Covered in grass and bracken.
