Ashburton - East Street (south side) No.76 Hare's Lane Cottage (Formerly Listed as East Street (south side) Nos. 72, 74 and 76 (Hare's Lane Cottage (76)) - GV II
Early 18th century house with late 18th to mid 19th century rear wing. Solid rendered walls, the right gable and upper storey of rear wing (visible from Hares Lane) slate-hung. Slated roofs. Rendered chimneys on right gable and on rear wall to left.
Two storeys with garret at front. Three windows wide. Six-panelled centre door, the four lower panels flush, the two top panels now glazed. Panelled frieze; flat hood on shaped brackets. Eight-paned sashes in recessed box-frames. Front finished with triangular gable spanning all three windows; it contains a single window matching those below. Plain bargeboards, extending across below the eaves at either side. Rear wing has 6-paned sashes facing Hares Lane; at rear, 19th century sashes with margin-panes in ground storey, triple sash with 2-paned centre light above.
