Full description

Allan, J., 1999, Untitled Source (Personal Comment). SDV338710.

Stirrup mount with openwork. Late Saxon/early Norman. Found in spoil dump on site of flats behind butcher's shop. Also zoomorphic buckle (possibly a lion or tiger). Solid cast, unusually elaborate. May be 12th or 13th century, or a little earlier. Both items shown at Royal Albert Memorial Museum by Stuart Hellier in November 1999.
