Request for spot listing of 1 and 2 Northfield Road, including a copy of the entry which forms part of the original proposals for revisions to the Ilfracombe list:
Pair of semi-detached houses. Early 19th century, altered late 19th century. Solid, roughcast walls. Slated roofs with crested ridge-tiles. Red brick chimneys on gable walls, that on left-hand side now without its chimney-pots. Three storeys with garrets; two storeyed addition to right. Mirrored fronts two windows wide. Outer windows in ground and second storeys are canted bays with bands of trefoil decoration above each storey; other windows have 6-paned sashes, or 9 panes in the lower sashes in the second storey. The two second storey windows have in front of them a continuous balcony with patterned iron railing. Along the bottom of the balcony is a shaped wood fringe. Doors, in centre of ground storey, are 6-panelled, the four upper panels glazed. Four gabled dormer windows with barge boards and crested ridge-tiles; sashes with one upright glazing-bar to each sash. The two-storeyed addition has a plain window to left and a glazed door to right. Sash window with single glazing-bar to each sash in upper storey.Flat corrugated iron roof. In front is a low screen wall of 20th century concrete block. Interiors not inspected.
Nos 1-2 and 3 Northfield Road form a group.

1 and 2 Northfield Road(building c). Built as a pair in 19th century. Rendered stone, with faint false-ashlar effect. Four storeys with slate-hung dormers. Slate roof with brick stacks. Three sash windows plus two dormers at front of each house, with a bay window on ground and first floors. Shared central, flat, decorative wooden porch canopy. Low accommodation annexe on north-west side adjoins No 3, and low utility block adjoins Robins Garage on south-east side. Tarmac car parking area in front of houses. Garden at rear. Flat-roofed, single-storey extension; built of stone with brick dressings, projects into rear garden. Main buildings rather dilapidated, particularly rear top storey of No 1. In 1920s the livery stables to south-east of No 1 were converted to a garage.
