A mound is visible as a roughly circular earthwork approximately 11m in diameter on digital visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, on the lower south-east-facing slopes overlooking the confluence of the Ridgecot Lake, Piall River and River Yealm water courses.
The visible earthwork corresponds with a mound depicted on the circa Ordnance Survey 1880s 25inch Second Edition map. The mound was not shown on the First Edition map, but this does not necessarily imply that the mound was created between circa 1880 and 1906.
The mound is of unknown date and function but could be of later prehistoric date.
A broad bank extending north-west from the mound is probably the remains of an adjacent former field boundary.
