Full description

Kanefsky, J., 1984, Devon Toll Houses, 23 (Pamphlet). SDV349663.

Just east of Greystone Bridge on the Devon/Cornwall border, on the south side of the A384 Launceston to Tavistock road. A two-storey tollhouse, similar to Morwell Down and Uppaton.

Swete, J. (ed. Gray T. + Rowe, M.), 1997, Travels in Georgian Devon. The Illustrated Journals of the Reverend John Swete. Vol. 1, 129, 130 (Monograph). SDV341166.

Revd Swete refers to 'Greston' bridge around which he says were several cottages. One of these, on the Devon side, was a turnpike gate. His description suggests that the cottage depicted in the accompanying sketch of the bridge, dated 1793, is on the Cornish side of the river.

Dyer, M. J. + Manning, P. T., 1998, Objective 5B: Lower Tamar Valley Recreation and Land Management Iinitiative: Cultural Heritage Appraisal, 4 (Report - non-specific). SDV319814.

Angars Ball Cottage. Stone built with a slate-hung upper storey. Probable 19th century toll house with an angled south end with a window facing the road to/from Greystone Bridge. The toll gate/house and keeper is mentioned by Swete.

Rosevear, A., 2008, Devon Tollhouses (Un-published). SDV351734.

Angars Ball Cottage to the east of Greystone Bridge. Built by the Tavistock Turnpike Trust in the 19th century.
