A network of linear and curvilinear earthwork ditches are visible on aerial photographs taken from 1947 onwards and on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. They form a rough grid; wider ditches are aligned cross-contour and seem to have been taken off a substantial channel on the west which probably originated at a sluicegate to the north on the River Kit. Narrower channels run perpendicular to these and many are aligned slightly downslope, apparently distributing the water across the field. The earthworks are interpreted as the remains of a post-medieval or 19th century catchmeadow water management system. No channels are depicted on the available historic mapping and the system may have gone out of use by the late-19th century. Sluices and water channels are depicted to the north-east and north-west on the historic mapping and so have not been transcribed as part of this project.
