Full description

Horner, W., 04/04/2001, Archaeological Recording at Mount Ford, Tavistock (Correspondence). SDV350381.

The moulded stone artefact is not Coade stone, but a comparable imitation stone product. It probably dates from the early 19th century, which would tie in with the construction of the Workhouse in 1817-18.

O'Connor Thompson, S., 2000, Report on a Watching Brief at Mount Ford, Ford Street, Tavistock, Devon, 3-4; figure 2; plates 3-5 (Report - Watching Brief). SDV350378.

A moulded imitation stone artefact was recovered from the entrance to the Mount Ford site as part of the development process. A roughly rectangular block with head on the front and rolled scrolls with foliage on both side faces. The block had been attached with mortar and the bottom was broken.
