An earthwork bank of potential medieval date is visible on aerial photographs of 1945 onwards, to the northeast of Holset. The bank is northwest to southeast aligned and curves sharply towards the southwest at its northwest extent. The earthwork bank, which follows the 110m contour line on the edge of a prominent hilltop, measures approximately 5.5m wide and may form part of a former medieval field boundary which passed out of use by the time of the parish tithe map. As has been alluded to elsewhere in this record, the earthwork bank may also be of potential prehistoric date, although further field investigation would be required to establish this. The earthwork bank remains visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2002.
