Full description

Ministry of Public Building and Works, 10/03/1970, Hut Circle Village 600 yds SE of Swincombe (Schedule Document). SDV356121.

[One of a] series of hut circles associated with an extensive field wall system comprising presumably one economic and social unit. Hut k: Late hut substantially built. 27 feet diameter. Door south-east.

Site visit 26th July 1988. Hut circle A at SX64617221. Internal diameter 7.3-8.6 metres. Rubble walling with some edging stones in the east and south-west arcs. Wall width spread between 1.1 and 2.3 metres, widest on the north and east, except between edging stones on the south-west where it is 1.3 metres. Wall height 0.5-0.9 metres externally, 0.2-0.5 metres internally. A break in the east arc possibly indicates an entrance. The level interior contains much scattered stone and there is a disturbance hole at the north end. Condition is good
