In Market Square are the former Market buildings of 1830, single storey and now much altered as showrooms.

Former market building. Now the Regent Hall. Constructed circa 1830 following demolition of previous market house and guildhall. An upper floor was added in 1857 and the building was converted to the short-lived Regent Cinema prior to the Second World War.

Circa 1830 market building converted into a cinema and now shop premises. Slate hipped roof on stuccoed square brick piers. One storey. Six by four bays. Originally open-sided, now the bay between the piers are blocked or have glazed shop windows. Lantern over the ridge with thin wooden columns supporting a pyramidal slate roof. The south side has modern cinema front addition and there are additions on the west side also. Date listed: 6th June 1983.
