Summary

Hut has an internal diameter of 8.5 metres with walling 2.2 metres thick and 0.9 metres high. It is in good condition and has a levelled interior and a southern entrance. The east side of the hut is joined to a parallel reave and appears to have preceded it.

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1950, SX67SE44 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV170238.

(27/04/1950) A hut circle of the double walled type. Diameter 8.5 metres internally. Dimensions of walling 1.5 metres wide overall by 0.5 metres high. Well defined entrance to south-east.

Fox, A., 1954, Celtic Fields and Farms on Dartmoor in Light of Recent Excavations at Kestor, 102 (Article in Serial). SDV231175.

A hut, 27 ft diameter, at a height of 1050 ft on a north west slope, north east of Hangman's Pit. Also, four fields. Iron Age but could have been started in the Bronze Age.

(12/07/1977) At SX 6775 7169 is a Type 3 hut circle situated on a north-west facing slope at 310 metres OD. The hut has an internal diameter of 8.5 metres with walling 2.2 metres thick and 0.9 metres high. It is in good condition and has a levelled interior and a southern entrance.
The east side of the hut is joined to a parallel reave and appears to have preceeded it. Surveyed 1:10 000 on PFD.

Hut circle could have been attached to field boundary within the parallel reave system SX67SE/246. Visible on 1977 aerial photograph.

(18/04/1996) SX 67767169 and SX 67727169. Two hut circles lie on the moderate NW facing slope above the right bank of the Aller Brook. Apart from an adjustment to the NGR the hut at SX 67767169 is as described above.
A second smaller hut lies 70m downslope at SX 67727169. This very disturbed feature is levelled into the slope and measures 3.5m N to S by 3.8m internally with walls 1.0m wide and 0.3m high. There is no obvious entrance. It adjoins a contemporary field boundary, part of the Dartmeet parallel reave system (SX 67 SE 95).
